Kosovo film 'Luaneshat e Kodrës' to premiere at Cannes Festival

Somewhere in a small village in Kosovo, three young women sense that their ambitions and dreams are being drowned. There is nothing that can prevent them from seeking their independence: it’s time for the lionesses roar. This is the journey that director Luana Bajrami brings through her first film. “The hill where the lionesses roar” is the first feature length Kosovo film that will be premiered at the most important film festival in the world, Cannes Festival.

I grew up by having dual nationality, French-Kosovar nationality, thus it is honor for me to present a Kosovar film in France, at the Cannes Festival. I am very happy for the recognition and enthusiasm already addressed to the film, especially for being my first feature length film that tackles such important topic: youth itself, and youth’s commitment for freedom”, pronounced the director Luana.

“The hill where the lionesses roar” is a co-production of France and Kosovo, produced by Valbona Rrahmani, and co-produced by Pascal Judelewicz.

It is supported by Kosovo Cinematography Center and produced by OrëZanë Films (Kosovo), Vents Contraires (France), and Acajou Productions (France).

Main characters: Flaka Latifi, Uratë Shabani, Era Balaj, Andi Bajgora, and Luàna Bajrami. It will be premiered as part of the Director’s Fortnight program.
