Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Mr. Kujtim Gashi has appointed Arben Zharku as the director of Kosovo Cinematography Center. The mandate of the director is four years and this is the second mandate for Zharku.
“I’m very honored for getting re-elected as director and I’m confident that in the next four years I’ll contribute even more on developing Kosovo’s film industry. In my second mandate, among other duties I will focus in adapting Kosovo's legislation with the European Union countries, putting into force the Tax Incentives Regulation, lobbying for Kosovo's membership in Eurimages and the Media Program.” said Arben Zharku.
The presence of kosovan films in the main film festivals has increased significantly in the last years, worth mentioning are: Babai by Visar Morina, the Oscars® nominated short film Shok by Jamie Donoughue, Three Windows and a Hanging by Isa Qosja, Unwanted by Edon Rizvanolli, The Marriage by Blerta Zeqiri and many more.
To want, to need, to love will be premiered at Hot Docs in Canada
‘Ten Outstanding Documentaries Selected for EFP's New Collaboration with Hot Docs, Toronto’ is the title of EFP’s press release.
In these 10 films, part of ‘The Changing Face of Europe’ among others, is also the kosovan documentary film supported by KCC – To want, to need, to love by Ilir Hasanaj. The film tells the story of a recently separated couple who tries to find a way to still work and live together by joining a performance art project travelling through Europe. It was premiered in DokuFest, Kosovo, where it won the Audience Award.
Hot Docs is the North America's largest documentary festival, conference and market, will present its 25th annual edition from April 26-May 6, 2018. An outstanding selection of over 200 documentaries from Canada and around the world will be presented to Toronto audiences and international delegates.
The documentary follows the story of a newly divided couple and a lost teenager, who is disappointed with life. All three join an artistic project with which they travel to Europe.
KCC opens its annual bid for film projects
Kosovo Cinematography Center has opened the annual bid for supporting film projects for the year of 2018.
The Managing Board of KCC in the last meeting has decided to open the following competitions: short and long feature films, documentary films, short animated films, debut feature films, minority co-production for feature films, post-production for feature films and script development.
The deadline to apply for film projects is May 4, 2018.
While the deadline for registration of the film houses in KCC is 1 May 2018.
