Historical premiere of ‘Luaneshat e Kodrës’ in Cannes

“The hill where the lionesses roar” directed by Luana Bajrami was premiered at the Cannes Festival in the Director’s Frotnight category. It is the first feature-length film, a co-production of Kosovo and France, and shot in Kosovo, that was premiered in the most important film festival in the wold.

Director’s Fortnight is a very important Cannes program that has greatly impacted the contemporary cinema and contributed to the world film language evolution, by playing films of well-known directors, such as Werner Herzog, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Nagisa Oshima, George Lucas, Martin Scorsese, Chantal Akerman, Jim Jarmusch, Michael Haneke, Spike Lee, Naomi Kawase, Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne, and Sofia Coppola.

“The hill where the lionesses roar” is competing for the Golden Camera, a Cannes Festival award for debut directors who are part of the various festival programmes. It is a co-production of Kosovo and France, produced by Valbona Rrahmani and co-produced by Pascal Jedelewicz.

Main characters: Flaka Latifi, Uratë Shabani, Era Balaj, Andi Bajgora and Luàna Bajrami. The film is support by the Kosovo Cinematography Center and produced by OrëZanë Films (Kosovo), Vents Contraires (France) and Acajou Productions (France).
