The feature film ‘Aga’s House’ written and directed by Lendita Zeqiraj will open the ‘East of the West’ competition in one of the most important European and World festivals in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic.
The film follows 9 year old boy (Arti Lokaj) who grew up with his mother in a house outside the city. He is learning Serbian from Zdenka, a woman of another nationality, in order to find his father whom he thinks is in prison in Serbia. The opening of the ‘East of the West’ competition in Karlovy Vary with Lendita’s film is an important moment for Kosovo's cinematography.
On the occasion of the Karlovy Vary's program line-up publication, screenwriter and director of the film Lendita expressed: “I am very honored that my movie "Shpia e Agës" will open the competition the program "East of The West’ at the Karlovy Vary, such an important world festival. Realizing this film was not easy at all, it took us a lot of time, effort and sacrifice. It was a very challenging but also a wonderful experience. I am very happy that the film’s journey is begining. It will be seen by many people it will now talk to the world. For me this is very rewarding.”
Aga’s House is produced by Bujar Kabashi. Roles are plays by: Arti Lokaj, Rozafa Çelaj, Adriana Matoshi, Shengyl Ismaili, Melihate Qena, Basri Lushtaku, Rebecca Qena, Molji Maxhuni, Egla Ceno and others.
The film is a co-production between Kosovo, Croatia, France, and Albania, with N'ART FILMS production house supported by Kosovo Cinematography Center, co-producer WOOF FILMS from Croatia; Sacrebleu productions from France; as well as Ska-Ndal Productions and SY13 Films from Albania supported by the National Cinematography Center.
